戴维·赫伯特·劳伦斯的《恋爱中的女人》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- They measured and discussed in the dining-room, and Hermione decided what the floor coverings must be.

-- The grass was soft and fine and old, a level floor carpeting the court, the sky was blue overhead.

-- With heart drawn fine, Gerald stepped into the hall, whose floor was of coloured tiles, went quickly and looked into the large, pleasant room.

-- The large bay windows were naked, the floor was stripped, and a border of dark polish went round the tract of pale boarding.

-- The kitchen did look more substantial, because of the red-tiled floor and the stove, but it was cold and horrid.

 

查尔斯·狄更斯的《老古玩店》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- The floor was made up of huge blocks of some very hard white metal, not plates nor slabs blocks, and it was so much worn, as I judged by the going to and fro of past generations, as to be deeply channelled along the more frequented ways.
