威廉·萨默塞特·毛姆的《月亮和六便士》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- I do not know what put it into my head to ask:"I say, have you by any chance run across a painter called Charles Strickland?"

 

儒勒·凡尔纳的《神秘岛》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- It would not take less than an hour to get to it, and then there was the chance of falling to leeward.
