赫伯特·乔治·威尔斯的《时间机器》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- And, after all, it was a beautiful and curious world.

刘易斯·卡罗尔的《爱丽丝漫游镜中世界》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- For some minutes Alice stood without speaking, looking out in all directions over the country and a most curious country it was.
