赫伯特·乔治·威尔斯的《人魔岛》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- I stopped aghast at the sight of the scattered blood.

-- They were scared out of their wits by the sight of me.

-- I staggered on, my head reeling and my heart beating against my ribs, tired almost to death, and yet not daring to lose sight of the chase lest I should be left alone with this horrible companion.

 

拉迪亚德·吉卜林的《丛林故事》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- The deer and the wild pig grubbed up their crops, and now and again the tiger carried off a man at twilight, within sight of the village gates.
